Transfer to Arts
You are a Waterloo student in another Faculty thinking of transferring to Arts... you may be wondering if an Arts degree is for you.
This is a good and an important question —often people feel so much pressure to continue their studies that they don’t stop to consider what an Arts degree is and if it would meet their academic needs and future goals.
Questions about Arts degrees? Contact an Arts Academic Advisor.
What are the admission requirements for Arts?
An admission average of 65% on all Arts courses attempted is required for admission to Arts. The average must be composed of at least four successfully completed University of Waterloo Arts courses. See the "Arts Internal Transfer Preparation" form (below) for a detailed breakdown of admission requirements.
English language requirements
Internal transfer applicants whose first language is not English must also meet the same admission requirements as external applicants to the Faculty of Arts with regard to the English language requirements.
How to transfer into Arts
- Meet with current faculty advisor to determine all options within current program and faculty.
- Complete an Arts Internal Transfer Preparation Form. This form was created to guide students through their decision making process. This must be completed prior to meeting with an Arts Advisor.
- Make an appointment with an Arts Advisor to discuss the transfer process / future course plans in detail. A Plan Modification / Internal Transfer form will be completed during that meeting. Contact the Arts Undergraduate Office for the first available advisor.
