Mobiliary graphics:Much of the graphic material from the Upper Paleolithic consists of "portable" art, employing small and large pebbles, slabs of rock, and fragments of antler, bone, and ivory. A common theme of mobiliary and, to a lesser degree, parietal graphics is that of the "venus figures" that may provide clues to the evolution of signs. |
